Primal Technologies, a provider of enhanced service applications for wireless, cable and landline companies, announced today that its Open Services Platform (OSP) is commercially deployed with Appalachian Wireless to offer OTA and SMS.

“We are very pleased with the Primal OSP system. With the Primal OTA we can easily activate new subscribers and make service changes without the intervention of the subscriber. Their SMSC is easy to use and with the real-time data on usage, queue status and SMPP connection, we know the status of the network at all times,” said Jonathan Bradford, IT Manager at Appalachian Wireless.

The Over the Air Service Parameter Administration (OTAPA) feature also allows wireless service providers the update of NAM parameters, and Roaming List information in the mobile station remotely. This capability increases flexibility and reduces costs for carriers involved with mass changes that affect every handset, such as area-code splits. “A dual NEBS SMSC for half a rack can easily support 5 million SMS messages per day,” said Michael Conway, Vice President of Primal Technologies. “Over the past couple of years we have assisted many carriers replacing their first generation SMS with a plug and play system from Primal Technologies,” he continued.

The Open Services Platform (OSP) with its many applications is connected to the IP and SS7 networks simultaneously. Other applications supported on the IN-OSP include Unified Visual Voicemail, IN Prepaid/OCS, MMS and USSD. Once connected to the IP network, subscribers can update their accounts and profiles from anywhere in the world via the WWW and their Credit Card. IN-OSPs range from 10,000 to 1 MM subscribers allowing wireless service bureaus and MVNOs to scale their solution with their subscriber base.
