PRIMAL TECHNOLOGIES Successfully Installs Over-the-Air Activation (OTA) for Hatif Libya

Primal Technologies, a provider of enhanced service applications for wireless, cable and landline companies, has announced a successful deployment of OTA to Hatif Libya partnering with ZTE.

Hatif Libya, based in Tripoli, Libya, was deploying a 100% core and value-added services replacement and turned to ZTE and Primal to make it work. The three-year project involved multiple network core and information technology systems to be modified or replaced across the country with no outages. “We are very pleased with how Primal and ZTE worked in this part of the world,” said Vice President Michael Conway. “Both Primal and ZTE worked across different time zones with on-site and remote engineering teams around the globe. A challenge for all parties, but it was rewarding upon completion,” continued Conway.

The Over-the-Air Service Provisioning (OTASP) feature allows a carrier to activate new wireless subscribers and make services changes to existing wireless subscribers without the intervention of the subscriber. The Over-the-Air Parameter Administration (OTAPA) feature allows wireless service providers to update NAM parameters, and Roaming List information in the mobile station remotely without the involvement of a third party. This capability increases flexibility and reduces costs for carriers involved with mass changes that affect every handset, such as area-code splits.

Primal’s OTA operates on an NFV Primal OSE (Opens Services Environment). The Primal OSE, with its many applications, is connected to the IP and SS7 networks simultaneously. Other applications supported on the IN-OSP include Unified Visual Voicemail, IN OCS, SMS-MMS and USSD. Once connected to the IP network, subscribers can update their accounts and profiles from anywhere in the world via the WWW and their PCI compliant credit card. NFV environments range from 10,000 to 10 MM subscribers allowing wireless service bureaus and MVNOs to scale their solution with their subscriber base.
