Primal Technologies, a leading developer of telecom applications, announced today that the company now has the capability to operate in the network functions virtualization (NFV) environment on the VMWare and OpenStack platforms.
Primal Technologies’ VNF Applications include Advance Pay/Prepaid, OCS, Voicemail/Visual VM, SMSC, MMS Server and EIR. With Primal's VNF on VMWARE and OpenStack, wireless carriers can leverage all value-added applications with a solution scaling from 10,000 and beyond without hardware restrictions. Using either platform, service providers can have multiple telecom software solution providers on a centralized NFV platform reducing and streamlining the hardware costs.
“Primal is committed to the flexible nature of the network infrastructure of both today and the future by assisting our customers to minimize both OPEX and CAPEX. VMware and OpenStack have demonstrated this fundamental approach in moving ahead by leveraging resources in a virtualized atmosphere,” said Michael Conway, Vice President.
To administer, control and monitor the OSP the service provider utilizes Primal Skynet, a WWW based interface; a simple, highly-focused turnkey solution for subscriber provisioning, customer service management and service administration, monitoring, alarming, and reporting for a broad range of services. Primal Skynet continues to grow every month with new features in the area of reports and monitoring. Service providers can effortlessly see from any desktop how their telecom network is performing, and in real-time monitor the inbound revenue coming in from credit card transactions.

OpenStack is a free and open-source software platform for cloud computing, mostly deployed as infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), whereby virtual servers and other resources are made available to customers. The software platform consists of interrelated components that control diverse, multi-vendor hardware pools of processing, storage, and networking resources throughout a data center. Users either manage it through a web-based dashboard, through command-line tools, or through RESTful web services. OpenStack began in 2010 as a joint project of Rackspace Hosting and NASA. As of 2016, it is managed by the OpenStack Foundation, a non-profit corporate entity established in September 2012 to promote OpenStack software and its community. More than 500 companies have joined the project.
